This guide explains the configuration steps necessary for integrating Blogic Restaurant with the PAX A35 device for payment processing. The PAX A35 terminal is an Android-based, multilane transaction processing, and mobile smart terminal. Please note that this service is exclusively supported by Blogic Payment Processing.
To ensure smooth functioning, it’s imperative to load the device with a customized PAXStore template tailored for the Blogic Restaurant.
It’s strongly advised to make any adjustments to the device settings at the PAXStore level. This ensures that site-specific configurations are retained, even if the device firmware undergoes updates or changes. Failure to configure settings at the PAXStore level may result in overwriting of settings during downloads.
Connecting the A35 Device
Equipment
- Long thick cord: Plug into the back of the PAX device.
- Short cord with Red Plug: If your establishment utilizes Ethernet, insert the Ethernet cord into the red plug of the shorter cord.
- Long thin cord with VGA Plug type: Not utilized.
- Long thin cord with USB Plug type: Not utilized.
- Long thin cord with Electrical Plug: Plug into the electrical outlet.
Connecting the A35 Device to a Local Network
To connect the A35 device to the site’s wireless network, follow these steps:
- Power on the device.
- Access Settings from the Home Screen.
- Enter the password (9876 or pax9876@@) and confirm.
- Open Wi-Fi and select the local network.
- Enter the network password and select connect.
- Wait until device connects, then tap Wi-Fi netework’s name
- Select Advanced and scroll up on the screen. The app will display the network settings.
- Record the IP address.
You will need the IP address to configure the restaurant to communicate with the device.
Configuring Wi-Fi Static IP
- Access Settings from the Home Screen.
- Enter the password (9876 or pax9876@@) and select OK.
- Navigate to Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Select the network > pencil icon in the top-right hand corner > access Advanced Options.
- Select IP settings to tap Static and input desired information (IP address, Gateway, and DNS information)
- Save the settings.
Connecting the A35 Device with an Ethernet Connection
For Ethernet connection to the local network, adhere to these procedures:
- Power on the device.
- Connect the Ethernet cord to the designated red port.
- Access Settings from the Home Screen.
- Enter the password (9876 or pax9876@@) and confirm by tapping OK.
- Enable Ethernet on
- Tap Ethernet. The app will show the network settings.
- Note down the IP address for configuration.
You will need the IP address to configure the restaurant to communicate with the device.
Configuring a Blogic Restaurant
Follow these steps to configure Blogic Restaurant for using the PAX A35 device:
Creating a Payment Terminal
- Log into the Admin Console.
- Navigate from Main Menu to Account, then select the appropriate account.
- Navigate from Main Menu to Location, then select teh appropriate location.
- Navigate from Main Menu to Location Setup, then click Payment Terminals.
- In Payment Terminals, select NEW to add a payment terminal.
- Specify a descriptive name and type the IP address of the PAX A35 device in the appropriate boxes.
- If necessary, enable Prompt for Tip.
- Save the changes and publish.
- Select Save to save teh record.
- Select Publish to publish changes, then Yes at the prompt.
Connecting the POS to a PAX A35 Payment Terminal
These settings facilitate linking a PAX A35 device to a Heartland Restaurant terminal for regular use:
- Access and log into the Blogic Restaurant POS.
- Navigate to User Menu > Manager > Payment Terminals.
- Select the PAX A35 device.
- Upon successful connection, the POS displays “Connected.”
Using the A35 Payment Terminal
To initiate transactions using the Portico application on the A35 device, follow these steps. Please note, the device should remain in this mode for the POS to complete credit card transactions.
- Locate and double-tap the Portico application from the main screen.
- Process credit card transactions as per standard procedures.
Completing Payment Transactions
Follow these steps to process a credit card transaction with the A35 device:
- In the POS, select a credit card receipt for payment. If prompted for a tip, enter the amount and submit.
- Follow on-screen prompts to enter card details or utilize EMV chip or swipe methods.
If the card has an EMV chip, dip or tap it against the front sensor. If no EMV chip, swipe it. If both of these methods are not working, type the card number into the Please Enter Account box, then tap Confirm. - If surcharges are being utilized, device may display a prompt.
- Complete the transaction.
- Additionally, you can configure the payment screen in the app settings to include Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
Setting the IP Address for Ethernet Connections
- Access Settings > Ethernet
- Configure Ethernet settings under Configure Ethernet Device and select Static and input necessary IP information.
- Save the settings.
- Return to Settings. Select Wi-Fi and select your Wi-Fi Network
- Tap Modify Network > Advanced Options.
- Scroll down
- Select IP Settings > Static.
- Scroll down.
- Enter the same IP information.
- Select Save.
Restarting the PAX A35 Device
To restart the device, either remove and re-plug in the power cord (USB end of the USB power cable) or unplug and plug back the power supply.
Because the PAX A35 does not have a battery, ensure the device remains connected to a reliable power source.
