This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up and selling items by weight using the POS Dashboard and POS system.
A. Setting Up in the POS Dashboard
- Access the POS Dashboard
- Open the POS Dashboard.
- Navigate to the Products tab.
- Select Categories/Items to view all items grouped by category.
- Adjust Item Settings
- Each item row includes columns such as Sold By Weight and Tare Weight.
- Default Settings:
- Sold By Weight: Unchecked
- Tare Weight: Disabled
- Enable “Sold By Weight”
- Locate the item you want to sell by weight.
- Check the Sold By Weight column.
- Once enabled, the Tare Weight input will become active, allowing you to specify the item’s tare weight.
- Alternative Method via Item Details
- Click the Details button for the desired item.
- In the General tab, locate the Sold by Weight (Intergrated Scale required) option.
- Check Enable to activate the Tare Weight input field for entry.
B. Selling Items by Weight on the POS
- Order Process
- Add items to the order as usual.
- For items marked Sold By Weight, a dialog box will appear.
- Weight Dialog Details
The dialog will display the following information:- Item Name
- Gross Weight: Weight of the item including packaging (can be manually entered or fetched via an integrated scale).
- Tare Weight: Predefined packaging weight (get value from POS Dashboard and non-editable by default, see Section C for editing options).
- Net Weight: Automatically calculated as:
NetWeight = GrossWeight − TareWeight - Unit Price
- Price: Automatically calculated as:
Price = UnitPrice × NetWeight
- Dialog Actions
- Cancel: Discard the weight input.
- Accept Weight: Confirm the weight.
- Once confirmed, the Qty column in the sales screen will reflect the Net Weight.
C. Advanced: Allow Editing Tare Weight During Sale
- Enable Tare Weight Editing
- Open the POS Dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > Configurations > Advanced.
- Scroll to the Weight Handling Configurations section.
- Adjust Configuration
- Enable the option Allow editing the tare weight when ordering items by weight (default is unchecked).
- Verify on POS
- After enabling this option, restart the POS system or Get Menu on POS to ensure the new configuration is applied. This step is critical to avoid any issues with the updated functionality.
- During the sales process, you will now be able to edit the Tare Weight field in the weight dialog.
