1. Understand the available category layouts
QOrder can display menu categories in two different ways. You can choose the layout that best fits your menu and ordering flow.
1.1 Tab Layout
- Categories appear in a horizontal tab row
- Customers tap a tab to view items in that category
- Best for menus with fewer categories or shorter names

1.2 Colored Button Layout
- Categories appear in a colored grid
- Customers can scan and select categories more quickly
- Best for visual menus and faster navigation

ℹ️ In Colored Button Layout, category colors come from the POS Dashboard or Menu Builder configuration.
2. Open Display Settings in BLogic View
- Sign in to BLogic View.
- Open the left navigation menu.
- Go to Configurations.
- Select the Display Settings tab.

ℹ️ The Display Settings tab is shown next to General Settings.
3. Choose a category layout
- In the Category Layout section, review the available options:
- Tab Layout
- Colored Button Layout
- Click the layout you want to use.
- Make sure the selected option is clearly highlighted.
- Click Save.

Layout behavior
- Tab Layout
- Shows categories as horizontal tabs
- Supports horizontal scrolling when there are many categories
- Colored Button Layout
- Shows categories in a colored grid
- Supports wrapping or scrolling when there are many categories
✅ Tip:
- Use Tab Layout for simpler menus
- Use Colored Button Layout when you want categories to stand out more clearly
⚠️ Only one layout can be selected at a time.
4. Save and sync the update to QOrder
After you save the setting, the system keeps the selected layout and sends the update to active QOrder devices.
- Click Save after selecting the layout.
- Wait for the save to complete.
- On QOrder, look for an update indicator such as:
- a badge
- a refresh hint
- a non-blocking message
- Refresh QOrder if needed to apply the latest setting.
⚠️ If a device does not support the selected layout, QOrder may fall back to Tab Layout.
5. View categories and items on QOrder
QOrder can display categories in two different ways, depending on your saved configuration in BLogic View.
5.1 Tab Layout
In Tab Layout, categories appear as horizontal tabs at the top of the screen.
- Tap a category tab to view its items
- The selected tab is highlighted
- Items appear below the category tabs
- If there are many categories, you can scroll horizontally

5.2 Colored Button Layout
In Colored Button Layout, categories appear as colored buttons in a grid.
- Tap a category button to view its items
- The selected category is highlighted
- Items appear below the category grid
- If there are many categories, the grid supports wrapping or scrolling

6. Understand category colors and display behavior
Category colors in the Colored Button Layout are not configured directly in QOrder. They come from your existing menu setup.
Color source:
- POS Dashboard
- Menu Builder
How it works:
- QOrder loads category colors from the backend
- If a category does not have a configured color, QOrder uses a default fallback color
- Category names remain readable and are truncated if they are too long
✅ Tip:
- Use distinct colors for important categories
- Keep category names short for better readability
⚠️ Avoid color combinations that make the text hard to read.
7. What happens when menu data or settings change
QOrder stays aligned with your latest configuration and menu data.
This includes:
- layout changes from Display Settings
- category color updates from POS Dashboard or Menu Builder
- category or item updates from POS
Expected behavior:
- The system detects the updated setting or menu data.
- QOrder receives the update signal.
- The device shows an update indicator or applies the update automatically, depending on setup.
- The category UI and item list remain consistent after refresh or sync.
⚠️ During and after sync, QOrder should not show mismatched categories and items.
8. FAQ
1. I do not see the Display Settings tab. Why?
Possible reasons:
- Your version does not support this feature
- Your account does not have permission to access Configurations
- The feature has not been deployed to your environment yet
Please contact Support for confirmation.
2. Why are my category colors not showing on QOrder?
Check the following:
- The selected layout is Colored Button Layout
- Category colors are configured in POS Dashboard or Menu Builder
- The QOrder device has synced the latest configuration
If no color is configured, QOrder will use a default fallback color.
3. I changed the layout, but QOrder did not update. What should I do?
Try these steps:
- Confirm the setting was saved successfully
- Check for an update indicator on QOrder
- Refresh or reload the QOrder screen or use “Get Menu” action
- Make sure the device is online
If the device was offline, the update will apply after the next sync.
4. What happens if there are many categories?
QOrder will still display them correctly:
- Tab Layout supports horizontal scrolling
- Colored Button Layout supports wrapping or scrolling
5. Does this change item data or pricing?
No. This feature only changes how categories are displayed on the QOrder screen. It does not change item names, prices, or category contents.
